Can Bing dominate over Google in 2012?

Today, Google might be the dominating search engine in the United States, but research has shown that in the last six months, searches that are powered by Microsoft’s Bing have begun to increase at a rapid pace. So rapid, in fact, that if this trend continues, there will be a real competition between Google and Bing next year. And Bing may just about emerge as the winner! Recent surveys have shown that Google was responsible for almost 65% of the searches in the United States last month. Bing powered searches include searches from bing.com and yahoo.com, have accounted for nearly 30% of the searches in the United States. The very fact that Bing’s searches have crossed the 30% mark has made it a significant competitor to Google. Last year, Google controlled nearly 72% of the search market, while Bing powered searches covered about 23% only. But in the last 6 months, Bing’s market seems to be rising rapidly. But Google still dominates over Bing in a 2 to 1 victory. But when you consider ...

Google and Bing have seen a Steady Growth in December, while Yahoo! has fallen in popularity

The latest reports have shown that Google and Bing have gained a bigger share of the search market in the United States in the month of December last year. Yahoo! On the other hand, has reportedly taken a backseat! Google has reportedly accounted for nearly two thirds of all searches or nearly 67% percent of searched in the month of December, which is a slight increase from the 62% that it boasted of in November. Yahoo! On the other hand, has dropped from a 16.4% in November to a mere 16% in December. Just like Google, even Bing has seen a small rise in share. Its share on the US market in December was 12% from a 11.8% in November. As far as the other search engines are concerned, the ASK market has reportedly dropped to a mere 3.5% from a 3.6% in November and AOL also fell from a 2% to a miniscule 1.9%.

What Facebook and Microsoft Could Learn From Google

Although Google shares a ‘love or hate’ relationship with Facebook and Microsoft, it is important however, for the latter two to learn something from the legend. Google is credited to have 66% of all searches, a slight increase from the past few months. While on the other hand, Facebook and Bing are combining their force to improve the search engine results. Facebook and Bing may try different means to throw down Google but they seem to make the same mistakes over and over again. Google may be a search giant but it is definitely not a search company. One of the strongest strategies that Google took in the last quarter lies in its advertising. That helped them gain a 23% hike in the growth. They have done a great job to match the ads that someone might click on to the person searching and they do it on a straight content. Facebook has been driving a huge amount of traffic but as compared to Google their revenue is pretty small while Bing is way behind both. Google actually is an adverti...

Google Vs Facebook? The Battle Is On

Google and Facebook are both battling for future dominance on the web. With Microsoft and Facebook’s partnership, Google has received the biggest threat since their inception. Facebook and Microsoft announced that they are teaming up to make Internet search more social. Now, if you search for something on Bing, you can also see whether your friends liked it or not. This way, it will be easier for any searcher to get opinions from friends before purchasing or making any decision. This is an interesting innovation for search and it is quite obvious that Facebook had to turn to Microsoft for this deal and not the search giant Google. Just imagine, if they did, Microsoft and Yahoo would have to wait for centuries to dominate the search market. Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, however said that they had a specific reason for why they had to choose Bing. According to him, Bing has serious potential and are the real underdogs. Microsoft has always been all about innovating. They have got some o...

Search Share in September

Now the September search share is out and here’s the verdict. Google is gaining the share and Yahoo is collapsing. Ok, here’s the detail. For the first time in several months, Google has gained a modest share. We have seen Bing and Yahoo having a tremendous growth in the market share for the past few months and Google was spiraling down a bit. Now, they can heave a sigh of relief as this modest amount of growth may be a sign showing an upward trend. Yahoo’s share has dropped significantly and Bing’s share is steady but the share between Bing and Yahoo together has lost again to Google yet again. The total US explicit core search volume has increased to 16.1% Y/Y last month and accelerated from 13.0% growth in August. Google’s domestic explicit core search share was 66.1 % last month and it grew a meager share from august which was 65.4%. Yahoo’s share decreased to 16.7% last month and a meager drop from August which was 17.4%. As for Bing, the share grew to 11.2% last moth and the numb...

Bing boosts social search with Twitter account suggestions

You will now find suggested Twitter accounts displayed on Microsoft’s Bing search engine. This account will allow users of its social search engine to subscribe or follow in the Twitter parlance based on the search queries made. To choose the account suggestion, Bing gives more value to a wide range of factors about its author like popularity, influence and the knowledge about the theme in question. Twitter is growing fast with more than 140 million accounts and to find interesting people to follow can be a hard effort. With the people recommendation from Bing’s Social, you will now be able to discover relevant and interested Twitter users based on the searches. If someone is searching for a celebrity, Bing might suggest the star’s official Twitter account, while if you search for a product, the suggestion will be for the manufacturer’s account and of the professionals. Bing is increasing its capability in the popular area of social search. The search engines are trying hard to help th...

Bing is Coming up with a new trick against Google Instant

With Google Instant, it has fueled a new competition between all other major search engines. Now the competition is full on. New innovation has been accelerated in the search space with Bing. Google and Bing have been at each others throat, and have each been coming up with new technologies. The Google Instant went live last week, which changed the search page. Now Bing is not sitting idle, they are coming up with new interesting innovations to compete with Google. Microsoft has introduced some new features at the IE 9 launch event in San Francisco. Most of the features that Microsoft introduced rely upon CSS3 and HTML5, a little late to adopt. IE 9 is the only browser that can support Bing’s new features, but other browsers have supported this technology for years. Bing’s use of HTML5 tools is good news for the developers as it will speed up adoption of HTML5 compatible browsers. IE users are usually behind Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari users as they are totally new in adopting th...

Is Google losing its Grip in the Search Dominance

People have been keeping a close watch over the search market, and from the last few months they have seen Bing and Yahoo gaining their market share. But what you can notice also is that Google seems to be losing its share. In July, Google lost its market share to Bing and now a notable shift is that Yahoo is getting an increase in its search query as well for the first time since January. As you could see, Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing have fused together in an effort to gain in the search realm. Yahoo’s organic search results are now powered by Bing’s algorithm in Canada and the USA. Some of the facts that were collected are: The number of Google users have declined steadily during this year and the figure is steady in recent months. Some of the users are moving to other search engines and most likely they are using mobile search and vertical search. Bing saw a decline in the search a bit earlier in the year but it has increased steadily since March. There were more searchers conducting...

Bing Powering Yahoo Searches

If you search in Yahoo, you will find no difference except just three words at the bottom of the page - “Powered By Bing”. It’s been nearly 13 months after Microsoft and Yahoo announced their plans to collaborate in hopes to challenge Google’s market dominance. They have also announced that all Yahoo English language searches made in the US and Canada will result in Bing’s search engine. The two companies are also trying to complete the paid search transition, text advertising links which run beside and above the standard results before the make or break holiday period. Now nearly 30% of US searches are made from Yahoo sites or from Bing and it seems the clock has starting ticking to compete with Google in a way which they could not do individually. The search result that both search engines have achieved is a big milestone in this search industry. Yahoo has dismissed the rumor that it is no longer a search engine. They said that the money it will save by outsourcing the big computer i...

Google, Yahoo and Bing search engines are trying different innovative search capabilities to make their users stick on. If you see, the searches are now becoming quicker and saving you lots of time. Yahoo Search Engine Gaining Market Share

The war between Google, Yahoo and Bing has become increasingly interesting with the passing of the days. Yahoo! Yahoo currently ranking second had 17.1% of searches, a good raise from 16.7% in June. While Google fell to 65.8% from 66.2% while Bing’s share remained unchanged. The results shown in July has a new category called the “explicit core search”, which tracks the users who retrieve search results. Bing and Yahoo have gained share in recent months from clicks on contextual searches. The US search ad market is estimated to grow to 16% this year, while the overall online advertising market may expand to 11%. Yahoo will start the procedure of transitionin...

Is Bing More Innovative than Google

Bing has been enjoying huge applause from many of its search engine users. Surprisingly, Bing has been moving so fast and becoming more innovative that even Google is trying to catch up with them. Google is considered the smartest and most innovative search giant in the world, what with their home page loading faster than any one else's and their simple white background. Bing on the other hand was launched with a colorful, photography driven background design. It is undeniable that Bing’s colorful look became more popular and with that Google also launched a feature that enables their users to make the search engine home page look more colorful. They even replaced their default background with a picture to mimic Bing’s look. After their users howled over the matter, they changed back to their original plain white look. This action shows that Google is feeling the pressure that Microsoft is giving them. Microsoft has also tried to pursue search from different angles than that of Goo...

Bing and Google Racing for Search Features

Most of Google’s loyal users have recently made a shift to Bing. Though they still use Google as their main search tool, they also find themselves navigating to Bing for certain tasks. Bing is certainly new to the search industry and they have been handling a small percent of web searches as compared to Google. But, we do see a gradual increase in their share while Google’s has been shrinking. No doubt, Google is still the search king, but they are keeping a close watch over Bing and mimicking some of their innovations. This has resulted in enhancing their search features and giving their users more sophisticated tools for search. Competing with Google seemed an impossible task as they have been dominating the search industry with a staggering high percent, higher than putting together all search engines’ search percent. But now, there is a surprising twist in the competition with Bing giving Google a run for their money. They have introduced some great features, impressing analysts. T...

Ask.com relaunching its search engine

When it comes to search engines, Google, Yahoo and Bing are the few ones which people limit their options to while conducting their searches. But these three are not the only search engines that exist. There are many search engines out there who are fighting for a place beside these three, like Ask.com. Recently Ask.com has announced that they will be providing question-and-answer services yet again and it will be of interest to the industry experts. Ask.com is retracting its original base to create their own identity as a search engine. If they are able to succeed in its relaunch, then it can have a big impact at the search engine market. To achieve this feat, Ask.com will have to create a loyal community through question-and-answer features that are directly plugged into the search engine. The main advantage of this search engine is higher engagement. They will have to build services that will be picked by browsers over the other three big search engine giants.

Is Twitter the fastest growing search engine today

People’s response to Twitter since its inception has been remarkable, making it more popular after celebrities started sharing their thoughts with their fans. Twitter is becoming the biggest online social networking site. The site is now supporting about 800 million search queries a day and you won’t believe it but Google supports only 88 million search queries and that too per month. There is a constant fight between the search engines for superiority. Each of them enjoy when there is a drop in their opponent’s search queries stats. Now, Twitter can join the ongoing battle but it has already been outdoing Bing and Yahoo. Compared to Bing’s growth of 22% in the US, Twitter searches increased by about 33%. Recently, Twitter has formed a search partnership with the three major search engines to use all the data from Twitter and implement it into 1 overall package. With Twitter’s own search engine attracting millions of users looking for real-time results on live events, its competitors a...

Bing's New Web crawler Bingbot releasing coming October. Microsoft made an announcement that it will be bringing the Bing web crawler out of beta on October 1st. "It will still honor robots.txt directives written for msnbot, so no change is required to robots.txt file(s)," a Bing representative told WebProNews. "Improvements to the bot enables more efficient crawling, and increases the ability to crawl content on sites not optimized for search," he says. Bing gets Social with Twitter and Facebook

Bing has recently upgraded its services and is currently sending the latest updates from Twitter and Facebook on your search terms. Microsoft's search engine on Wednesday officially launched its social site, which taps into public and shared updates from Facebook and the latest tweets from Twitter to show real-time results for your search topics. This social search engine works like the regular Bing search engine. You will simply need to enter your keyword, and you'll see a list of current and recent posts from the two social networks. Every post offers a link to a Web site that could be anything from a static page to a YouTube video, where you can view more on a topic. About the privacy concerns related to Facebook, Microsoft said in its blog that Bing collects updates only from Facebook fan pages and those shared links from non fan pages in which the status is set to share content with everyone. Still, no names, photos, or other identifying information will show up in the fee...
