Google slams China for Interfering with its Email system

Google has recently slammed the Chinese government for interfering with its Gmail Email system. This move has followed attempts by the Chinese government to control the “jasmine revolution”, which is an online revolutionary movement that was first inspired in the Middle East. According to Google, Chinese advertisers and customers have been complaining about their Gmail services in last month. Users who are attempting to send messages, mark messages and use other email services have encountered various problems. After the catastrophic earthquake took place in Japan a few weeks back, Google proceeded to set up an application that would help people find friends and family in the disaster. This service has also been compromised. Google announced this in its blog on March 11th where it said that it had recently noticed that its users were subjected to highly targeted and political attacks from the government.

Google’s Latest Algorithm helps eHow

A lot of people scoffed when Larry Fitzgibbon of Demand Media said that Google’s latest algorithm hasn’t had any kind of positive impact on the content and media business. This came after Google announced that the latest algorithm would rid the search engine of unethical content farms and low quality sites. However, examinations have proved that Google’s latest farmed update has seemingly improved the results for Demand’s eHow property. Sistrix, a famous SEO analyst used data from a set of 1 million keywords that was checked before as well as after the update and has come to the conclusion that the overall number of keywords that eHow.com ranked for has increased slightly after the update. Apart from this, Sistrix also calculated that the site experienced a jump in terms of keywords, ranking and click through rates as well. However, many other Demand sites did take a hit, including trails.com and answerbag.com. Topping the list were ezinearticles, wisegeek.com and suite101.com.

Chrome Users are the Latest Victims in Google’s battle with Apple

Google announced this week that it would be removing support from its H.264 video codec in its popular Chrome browser. If web developers specifically use the latest HTML5 video tag, they will no longer be able to point to the video encoded in the H.264 (AVC) standard format that is used by Chrome users. All the Android users will not be left far behind. The reason is to allow Google to devote more resources in supporting open codec technologies like Theora and WebM. It has also been suggested that this move will help Google save more money by not encoding and storing YouTube videos in this H.264 format. However, this is not really the case, as the H.264 is only format that is allowed on Apple devices like the iPad and iPhone. If YouTube should become incompatible with any of these devices, then it would probably be replaced by other competitors that are more flexible. Also, H.264 is a superior format in terms of user experiences as well as technically. There are fewer hitchers, less bl...

Google Adding Hacked Site Notifications in Search Results

Google announced in its blog that they are adding a new notice service that would include a separate warning page. This move is designed to offer searchers the most relevant and the safest search results. This will be the company’s search trend next year. A variety of automated tools are used to detect hacked sites and a message will indicate security compromises, which will be included under the links to violated result pages. Searchers can choose to click marked results and opt to click warning labels to learn more about the suspected site. Google has also assured website masters that it will work to help them in case their sites are hacked. This will prevent them from losing traffic because of the notification. The company will contact the webmaster through the Webmaster Tools account or through the email addresses found on the web page. The notification on the search result will be removed once the problem is fixed. Google has stated that adding this feature is only an effort to ma...
